Through our early-stage funds, we invest in companies in the seed and expansion phases. This is because, particularly in the first few years after their foundation, innovation-driven technology companies need financially strong partners who are fully committed to the shared cause.
We invest in startups across a wide range of sectors, from hardware to software, the digital economy and industry, right through to medical technology and the life sciences.
Every venture starts small. The Bavarian Seed Fund is aimed at young Bavarian tech companies that are at the very beginning of their product development.
We provide support not only in the form of capital, but also as a partner, drawing on our strong network of influencers and accelerators in Bavaria – and beyond.
Company stage: max. 24 months
Investment size: up to 750,000 euros
We also support companies beyond the seed phase, including through the Bayern Kapital Innovation Fund.
Innovation is our passion. We are driven by the desire to advance tomorrow’s technologies today, technologies that make the world a little bit better. Through the Bayern Kapital Innovation Fund, we invest in young Bavarian tech companies that are in the development phase.
To be eligible for funding from the Bayern Kapital Innovation Fund, a company must have an innovative business model and an internationally scalable growth strategy.

We support technology companies planning larger funding rounds for international expansion and scaling through our later-stage funds.
The Bayern Kapital Innovation Fund ERDF II is aimed at young Bavarian technology companies in the Bavarian ERDF regions that are developing a new product and/or production process, or wish to finance market launch and market penetration. The fund, managed by Bayern Kapital, is supported by the EU through funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Company stage: from start-up
Investment size: up to 3 million euros
In addition, EU funding from the ‘STEP Programme’ has been made available to the Bayern Kapital Innovation Fund. Companies that meet the relevant criteria (see investment principles) can receive funding of up to 8 million euros.
We support established technology companies planning larger funding rounds for international expansion and scaling through our later-stage funds.
