eKidz.eu GmbH ("eKidz") is a start-up founded in Munich in January 2017. eKidz develops mobile applications to promote literacy in primary schools.
The development of an AI-supported reading diagnosis tool that automatically analyses a child's reading performance is unique. It individually assesses decoding accuracy and other aspects of reading fluency. The children's enjoyment and motivation to read increases. The AI also provides targeted feedback to parents or teachers.
The eKidz language programmes have received very positive reviews, e.g. from the German Youth Institute, the Academy for Reading Promotion, Lower Saxony and the Reading Foundation. The technical excellence and breadth of impact of the eKidz educational programme has also been confirmed internationally: in 2021, eKidz was included in Launchpad's Top 5 Language Learning Technologies, in 2022 in UNICEF's Top 10 Blue Unicorn and in 2023 in SCFG's Top 10 EdTech. The eKidz app is already being used in three federal states in Germany as a state licence for all primary schools. It is available in various languages - German, English, Spanish and Ukrainian. The app is also valued internationally in a variety of learning contexts.
In several funded R&D projects, the scalable architecture of the eKidz platform forms the basis on which innovation projects are developed and researched. Cooperation partners include the University of Regensburg and the Fraunhofer Institute. The collaboration ensures that eKidz products are always in line with the changing market situation in the education sector and are future-orientated.
