LiDAR developer Blickfeld: Helping machines perceive their environment
It is always a testament to the technology when a start-up is able to secure a substantial financing round. In March, Blickfeld was able to do so: The Munich-based LiDAR start-up announced its Series-A financing round led by Continental and Wachstumsfonds Bayern.
LiDARs scan their surroundings and measure exact distances by sending out laser pulses and measuring the time it takes for the light to come back after hitting an object. This 3D distance information is the key for many applications, one of which is autonomous driving. For Blickfeld, this financing round marks the step from development to manufacturing, enabling the company to ramp up production and qualify their sensor for the automotive industry.
